Name: Flowd
Fast pitch: Flowd is a location-based mobile app that facilitates a closer links and rewards between bands and their fans.
Genius idea: More and more bands are always in the social realm via tools such as Twitter and Facebook, but location is a really untapped Empire when it comes to support. Provide an accurate gauge of how many fans a gig, real time comments of said gig and the ability to host giveaways and promotions at this gig, all in one app bound attended.
This is the core of Flowd, a fan outreach tool, which is basically foursquare for bands. This app the beginning December as free iPhone [iTunes link] introduced and developed Android app Digia ventures.
Each band – up and comers established acts – can a profile with a bio for Flowd through his Web site where you can, photo, skins, the fans to set up your own app pages (which may vary from machine to machine) apply and is a welcome message, the fans get to the artist in question. The artists can add tour dates on integration with Google maps, the the event in question to a physical location pins. Fans can then check you to that location.

By creating events like this, artists can also host contests that reward fans for the participation in and check-in. Right now, that functionality is rather bare bones: bands in contest manually enter details to the “info” box and check back with Flowd to see checks in. There are on no real way fans whether or not you won are apart from manually messaging you, to update.
Fans, for their part, can download the Flowd app – or register in browser – to follow their favorite bands (and send you private messages) and your friends. In this way users can keep with where bands are performing by checking your “flow” or news feed and check – in to garner shows rewards.
Users can also social interactions with friends and followers (which can be found on Facebook) promote by their status with photos and comments about what Flowd calls a “shout” (Yes), is a direct RIP by foursquare update and comment on friends of shouts and checkin. You can press shouts to Facebook and Twitter.
Could in theory this is a clever idea and very popular with music fans. In practice, the app is very new and populated by a mere handful of less known bands. Sites must also be added because it hardly as filled as foursquare and other, more established services. (In fact, it can smarter this app on foursquare’s API to build been.)
Still, Flowd offers a special experience to do more cross-apps like foursquare. Yes, you can create an event on foursquare check-in, but this is not really the purpose of the app. It remains to be seen whether such a specialized, young service flight can participate in an already crowded herd.
