Apple and different manufacturer from iPhone and iPad apps are subject of an action claimed you transmit personal information of users to advertising networks without the users consent.
The lawsuit, filed on December 23 in Federal Court in San Jose, California, seeking class action status. It claimed that the apps on “a huge amount of information about a mobile device user” access such as contact lists, usernames and passwords, and information about the user’s gender, age and income. The plaintiffs charge that federal laws and class-action status for Apple customers violates such information exchange fraud and privacy, the apps on your iPhone or iPad between December 1, 2008 and last week downloaded look.
The suit filed on behalf of Jonathan Lalo of Los Angeles County, alleges that Apple and the app makers are able to track consumer personal data because iPhones and iPads have a unique device identifier (UDID), a “string of electronically readable characters or numbers, that is stored in a specific device or a file.” Other parties named in the suit are Pandora, dictionary.com and the weather channel.
Apple could be reached for comment on the suit.
